Sri Lanka Itinerary: 10 Days - Hill Country and East Coast Summer Honeymoon
The warm-season honeymoon: a quiet shallow bay at Pasikudah, surf-town evenings at Arugam Bay, then the hill train and tea country on the way back.For weddings between May and September, when the east coast is at its best. Pasikudah offers a bay calm enough to wade a hundred metres out; Arugam Bay adds surf, lagoon boat rides and small beach restaurants. The trip then climbs to Ella for two mountain nights, rides the train through the tea country toward Nuwara Eliya, and ends with an evening at Kandy's Temple of the Sacred Tooth.

The journey, day by day
Sigiriya
The flight lands, and the transfer runs straight to Sigiriya, a 200-metre rock citadel rising sheer out of the jungle and built as a royal palace in the 5th century (about 4 hours via Kurunegala and Dambulla). Check in for the night.

Ravana Falls

Nine Arch Bridge
A 91m colonial viaduct built in 1921 with nine arches, best photographed when a train crosses — departures from Ella at approximately 9:10am and 3:15pm daily.
Rawana Ella Cave
A natural cave in the hillside near Ella said by local tradition to be where King Ravana hid Sita during the Ramayana epic, located close to Ravana Falls.

Nuwara Eliya

Kandy
