Sri-Lanka-Rundreise: 10 Tage – Jaffna und der alte Norden
Jaffna und der hohe Norden: Inseltempel, ein portugiesisches Fort, wilde Ponys auf Delft und Straßen, die kaum ein Reisender nimmt.Der Norden belohnt die zusätzliche Strecke mit einem anderen Sri Lanka: tamilisch, hinduistisch, trockener, ruhiger. In Mannar stehen ein portugiesisches Fort von 1560 und ein rund siebenhundert Jahre alter Baobab. Die drei Nächte in Jaffna reichen für den goldgetürmten Nallur-Tempel, die öffentliche Bibliothek, wiederaufgebaut nach dem Brand von 1981, der über 90.000 Bände vernichtete, und einen Tag zwischen den Inseln, wo die wilden Ponys von Delft von portugiesischen und holländischen Kavalleriepferden abstammen. Anuradhapura steht am Anfang und am Ende der Reise, und Sigiriya ist der letzte Halt vor dem Flughafen.
