Roads
Descends from highlands through Wellawaya then crosses the dry zone via Kataragama and Tissamaharama on mostly good A2/B roads. The last section to the Yala park entrance is a narrow road with occasional wildlife crossings.
Scenery
The drop from Ella to Wellawaya passes through rice paddies and cashew scrub. From Wellawaya onward the landscape turns flat dry-zone bush, with scattered tanks and occasional elephant sightings near the park boundary.
